After a year of design and permitting, construction is underway for badly needed bank protection within Robb Wash, north of Pima Street in Tucson, Az. The project’s purpose is to mitigate bank scour and protect a community pool. The project will consist of the placement of 75 feet of rock-and-rail bank protection (ADOT Detail C17.20). The rock will be secured within 5-foot wide wire baskets which are anchored by rail posts, pile driven into the channel bottom. In addition, the project will remove a perched concrete apron which had become a flow obstruction. The project will be completed before the 2019 monsoon season.
